Short Story
The speedometer hit 160 miles. He applied more pressure on his accelerator to eak out more speed, but the motor had reached its maximum. The law enforcement officers were having none of it.  Flashing lights and screaming sirens from four squad cars were on the tail of the getaway car.
The 60-mile highway in the suburbs evoked a dopamine rush from the reckless driver. His portly body covered the entire driver's seat of the opened back convertible. He bit a lighted cigar as he navigated his way through a few terrified drivers. The noon sunshine flamed and glowed. Beads of sweat formed and flowed from his face. Some even found a home on his balding head. Meanwhile, the patrol cars kept apace of the wannabe escapee.
A police helicopter joined the chase. Word from the flying smokey reported a passenger on board the fleeing car. It was a woman. She buried her face in her lap but her flowing hair revealed her presence.
The chase continued for over 40 miles.  The helicopter flew dangerously low at times. This  crew wanted to get a better view of all onboard the fleeing machine. The flashing red lights of a railroad crossing appeared a short distance away. The crossbuck  moved into position. The hum of the engine could be heard. The  clickety-clack of the carriages became louder. The deafening sound of its horn reverberated across the landscape. The frantic motorist ignored all and blasted his way through the guardrail and made his way to the other side, just a whisk from the flying freight carriages.
The maniac driver pushed on. His headlamps were knocked out.  The  cigar was yanked from his mouth. Parts of his bumper were displaced. Blood flowed from the forehead of his female companion. He managed to rip off a piece of his shirt and handed it to her to control the bleeding.
All of the squad cars parked as the sixteen carriages whisked on their way. Words from back-up in the sky revealed that the car had slowed down somewhat. And the chase continued. The car found a frontage road and continued racing. It suddenly swung into a parking lot of a small shopping mall and stopped. Two tyres were flat. Oil was leaking from the engine. Light smoke wafted from the overheated engine. The law enforcement team encircled the terrified driver and his companion. They both surrendered without much razzmatazz.      © Wallace Paul . This week's song feature is "I Try" taken from her multi -platinum debut album, "On How Life Is." This song reached number 4 in the USA, number 1 in Australia, number 2 in Canada, number 24 in France, number 19 in Germany, number 4 in Ireland, number 1 in New Zealand, number 6 in Switzerland, and number 3 in the UK.

I Try
Games, changes, and fears
When will they go from here?
When will they stop?
I believe that fate has brought us here
And we should be together babe
But we're not

I play it off but I'm dreaming of you
And I'll keep my cool, but I'm feigning

I try to say goodbye and I choke
Try to walk away and I stumble
Though I try to hide it, it's clear
My world crumbles when you are not near

Goodbye and I choke
I try to walk away and I stumble
Though I try to hide it it's clear
My world crumbles when you are not near

I may appear to be free
But I'm just a prisoner of your love
And I may seem all right and smile when you leave
But my smiles are just a front
Just a front, hey

And I play it off, but I'm dreaming of you
And I'll try to keep my cool but I'm feigning

Repeat chorus..I try to say and I choke.
Try to walk away and I stumble..

Here is my confession
May I be your possession?
Boy, I need your touch
Your love, kisses and such
With all my might I try
But this I can't deny
Deny

And I play it off, but I'm dreaming of you
( But, I'm dreaming of you babe)
And  I keep my cool, but I'm feigning

I try to say goodby and I choke
Try to walk away and I stumble...

Togo is a country in West Africa. It is bordered by Ghana to the west, Benin to the east, and Burkina Faso to the north. It extends south to  the Gulf Guinea where it's capital and largest city, Lome is located. Togo is a small tropical country which covers 22,000 square miles and has a population of approximately 8 million. The width of this country is just 71 miles between Ghana and its eastern neighbor Benin.
Until 1884 what is now Togo was an intermediate zone between the states of Asante and Dahomey, and its various ethnic groups lived in general isolation from each other. In 1884 it became part of Togoland German protectorate, which was later occupied by British and French forces in 1914. In 1922 The League of Nations assigned Togoland to France and the western portion to Britain. In 1946 the British and French governments placed  the territories under the United Nations Trusteeship. Ten years later British Togoland was incorporated into the Gold Coast, and French Togoland became an autonomous republic within the French Union.
Togo gained independence in 1960. The economy rests largely on agriculture, although the country's phosphate reserves are also significant. Savanna- type vegetation is predominant in Togo. On the southern plateaus large trees, including the baobab, are common but sparse in the north. The southwestern highlands are covered with  tropical forest- also found the river valleys. The coastal zone is dotted with mangroves and reed swamps.
The population of Togo is made up of 30 ethnic groups, many of whom are immigrants from other parts of Western Africa. The groups indigenous to Toga live in the north and southwest. Other ethnic groups include: Gur speaking peoples, The Gurma: The Natimba, the Kebu, the Kwa, the Adels, and the Ahola.
Almost half of Togolese are Catholics, with 13.7% Islam, 9.9% Independent and other Christian, 9.5% Protestant, 4.9% Traditional and 1.2% non religious.
Mining and quarrying are dominant economic activities in Togo with iron ore, bauxite, uranium and other minerals adding support to the economy.
Togo's GDP stands at 8.13 billion USD.

Is Your Blood Sugar Out of Control?
Picture
People with type 2 diabetes can often keep their blood sugar levels under control with diet, exercise and medication.  But unless you check your blood sugar everyday with a with a meter, you won't have the most accurate results.  A person with diabetes can benefit from checking their blood sugar. And when you track your results in a log, your doctor can tell how well you are responding  to your treatment plan over time.
Picture
You're Thirsty and You Have To Go.
Thirst and frequent urination are two classic diabetes signs caused by too much sugar in your blood. As your kidneys work harder to filter out the sugar, they also pull  more fluid from your tissues, which is why you have to go to the bathroom more often than usual. Thirst is your body" way of telling you it needs to replenish the liquid it is losing. If you don't drink more fluids, you can dehydrate.
Picture
You're Wiped Out
Fatigue is another sign that your blood sugar isn't under control. When sugar is staying in your bloodstream instead of being diverted to your body cells, your muscles don't get enough fuel to use for energy. You might feel only a little tired, or  your fatigue might be so bad that you need a nap. Sometimes people with diabetes feel very tired after eating a big meal.
Picture
The Room Is Spinning
Feeling dizzy or shaky can be a sign of low blood sugar or hypoglycemia. Because you brain needs glucose to function, a drop in blood sugar can be dangerous-- even life -threatening--if you don't address it. A glass of fruit juice can bring up your blood sugar in the short term. But if you have been feeling shaky or dizzy, talk to your doctor. You may need to adjust your medication or diet.
Picture
Your Hands and Feet Swell
If you have high blood as well ass diabetes, the two conditions can damage the kidneys' ability to filter waste and fluid overtime. As water builds up in your body, yout hands and feet may swell -- a warning sign that you may have kidney disease. You can preserve the kidney function you have by taking your diabetes and blood pressure medicine as prescribed Diet changes may help. Work with a nutritionist to keep your blood sugar under control.
Picture
You Have Numbness or Tingling
Nerve damage(called peripheral neuropathy) can be another sign of chronically elevated blood sugars. It results in numbness and tingling in your hands and feet, or inability to feel pain or temperature changes. See your podiatrist for regular food exams. People with neuropathy may not realise that they have been injured from a cut or that a wound is  becoming infected. Or may be oversensitive to pain. They might experience severe and constant pain from an otherwise painless stimulation.
Picture
You Have Stomach Trouble
Diabetes also damage the nerves that help your stomach empty and move food smoothly through your digestive tract. When your stomach can't empty quickly enough, a condition called gastroparesis, you may deal with unpleasant abdominal problems like nausea, vomiting, bloating, heartburn, or feeling of fullness right after you start to eat or a long time afterwards. Gastroparesis can also make it difficult to control your diabetes.
Picture
You're Losing Your Sight
High blood sugar and high blood pressure can both damage the sensitive structures in your eyes and threaten your vision.  Diabetes retinopathy-- caused by dames to the blood vessels in the eye --is one of the biggest cause of blindness in adults.  Blurred vision, spots, lines or flashing lights are signs of  retinal bleed, a medical emergency. Get your eyes checked now before your vision has a chance to deteriorate.
Picture
You're Losing Weight
Losing unwanted pounds is always a good way to manage type 2 diabetes. But if you're losing weight quickly without doing anything different it may be a sign that your blood sugar is too high. When your glucose is high it gets flushed out the body as urine, taking the calories and fluids you consumed with it.
Picture
You Have Recurring Infections
Frequent and recurring infections are sometimes a sign of high blood sugar. You may experience gum disease, urinary tract infections, bacterial and fungal infection of the skin, or, if you're a woman, yeast infections. Other infections might include pneumonia, and respiratory infections, kidney and gallbladder infections, and severe bacterial middle ear and fungal sinus infections.
Picture
Cuts and Bruises Won't Heal
If your blood sugar isn't well controlled, you might find that cuts and bruise are slow to heal. Tending to injuries, however small, is important becauses the risk of infections in people with diabetes. Infection themselves can also worsen blood sugars, which makes it even harder for your immune system to fight off the infection.
Picture
When to Call Your Doctor
Any new or unusual symptoms are worth making a call to your doctor. Call if you feel dizzy or your blood sugar drops or if you have severe symptoms like uncontrolled  vomiting, numbness or tingling, or blurred or double vision. Also call if you are having trouble controlling your blood pressure with your current treatment.

A priest, a minister, and a rabbi want to see who's best at his job.
So they each go into the woods, find a bear and attempt to convert it. Later they get together. The priest begins:
"When I found the bear, I read to him from the  Catechism and sprinkled him with holy water. Next week is his first communion."
"I found a bear by the stream," says the minister, "and preached God's holy word . The bear was so mesmerized that he let me baptized him."
They both look down on the rabbi who is lying in a gurney in a body cast.
"Looking back," he says, "maybe I should have started with the circumcision."

* Some hear footsteps in the hallway when no one is present.
* People hear the sound of keys jiggling behind them -- and no one is there.
* A 10-foot tall man in a trench coat floats six feet above the stage and then disappears.
* A person walks past an interior in a flash of light
* Doors open and close

Lambertville High School had at one point been named the most haunted school on the East Coast. Fortunately, the building has since been torn down. People have reported seeing fiery eyes floating around on the sports field and  a disembodied voice screaming. Others have reported seeing the ghost of a former football player who broke his neck and died during a match. The disembodied voice would ominously tell people to run.
