1. A young man had just bought a pair of brand name sneakers. On his way home the rain suddenly descended. He had to look for the shortest route to get home, so he ran through a an alleyway with lots of rocks. He took off his new sneakers and continued his dash for home. He stumped his toes resulting in two of them being badly damaged and bleeding. He continued running, though injured until he arrived at home. The first thing he thought to himself was that he was lucky and made the right decision to take off his sneakers. Because instead of his toes that is the kind of damage his sneakers would have suffered.
The Moaning Dead Man A pilot on a Chieftain (PA31-350) shared his experience of flying a dead body in a body bag one night and the body groaned and jerked pretty hard for about ten minutes into the flight. " I had strapped it down, so I don't know how much it would have moved if not restrained", reported the pilot. During the 25 minutes flight, the pilot said he just muttered under his breath and looked over his shoulder. He suspects that it could have been gases inside the corpse that brought out the pressure change from ground to 3,000 feet up. In 1872, the Mary Celeste was discovered adrift in the Atlantic Ocean. " Keep your mind fixed on what you want in life: not on what you don't want." Napoleon Hill 4. " Every adversity, every failure, every heartbreak, carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit." Napoleon Hill Short Story She is beautiful, yet fights valiantly to conceal her insecurities. Most people see her as poised and elegant as she steps on the runways at every major fashion show. Photographers, videographers and journalist often wrestle one another to get her attention. Her face on the cover of any of their publications would mean more viewership.
Her background is hardly ever mentioned in any fashion magazine or even the mainstream media. That is because she has chosen to remain as private as possible. Apart from that she secretly cherishes the dream of being married and raising a family. At 35, she knew that was fast becoming a challenge and more seemed like an impossible accomplishment. She was ambivalent. Her appearance on the world stage was something she never imagined. Yet, she wanted it as she was able to help her seven siblings and her parents who lived in a distant country and were struggling financially. The Paris Fashion Week was scheduled. There was much buzz. The top models and finest designers were on the card. Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Dior Homme, Prada, Stella McCartney, Rains, Fendi, Saint Laurent, Chanel, Armani, Tom Ford, Comme Des Garcons, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Valentino, Thom Browne, Hermes, Lacoste, Rag and Bone, Roberto Cavalli, Tommy Hilfiger, Wazox and other heavyweights. It seemed as if the whole world were to stop and take in this spectacle. Lights, cameras, and sparkle. The models were at their finest. There were the chic, the elegant, the retro, the Bohemien, the monochromatic, the rustic, the grungy, the vintage, the classic, the edgy, the androgynous, and more. These artists strutted their stuff with finesse. But she was not there. There were whispers and gossips and speculations. Journalist from the various publication stayed around for hours seeking to get the scoop of her absence. Many called any source they thought of to get an answer. Nothing of substance was available. For weeks on end, television stations and other publication ran a daily news flash on her whereabouts. There were no missing reports made by her relatives so law enforcement in many countries weren't on any special alert. Then there was breaking news. She secretly married a 60 year-old fashion executive. One year later she announced that she was the mother of triplets. © June 2024 Wallace Paul Some songs have an interesting back end story. Here's one. The title of this song was taken from a verse in the Bible--"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." 1 Timothy 6:10 KJV. Co-composer, lyricist, Anthony Jackson and bassman, played bass on the song. The other co-composers are Leon Huff and Kenneth Gamble. Sound engineer, Joe Tarsia noticed that Jackson had a wah-wah foot pedal attached to his Fender Precision Bass. Tarsia decided to run Jackson's bass through a phaser giving it a swishing sound and later mixed in echo. Gamble impulsively reach over to the echo button and added echo to Jackson's opening riff. And the rest is magic. Listen and you'll be amazed. Released in 1973 and peaking at number 3 on the R&B charts and number 9 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart in 1974 Here are the lyrics of "For The Love Of Money"
