Unlike other malignant tumors that inflict women and can be traced to diet or heredity, cervical cancers are mostly sexually transmitted, according to medical experts. An article from the National Cervical Cancer Coalition points to the causes of this disease. The Human papillomavirus(HPV) is found in 99 percent of cervical cancers. The article adds that there are over 100 different types of HPV. Most of these are considered low risk and do not lead to cervical cancer.
More than 70 percent of cervical cancers are linked to The HPV-16 andHVP-18. And HPV is considered the most common STD in the United States. The article also estimates that by age 50 about 80 percent of women have been infected with some type of HVP. However, the majority of women who develop HVP do not develop cervical cancer.  90 percent of HVP infections resolve on their own in two years. On the other hand, a few women develop persistent infection. This woman is at greater risk of developing cervical cancer.
Some symptoms of the disease are:
*Abnormal bleeding
*Pelvic pain
*Increased urinary frequency
*Pain during urination.
A regular check with your doctor can help determine if a woman has HPV and also help her to deal sensibly with this infection.
