Charles Vanvilt sat in the dining room, opened the package of his new android phone and began putting every part of the gadget in place. The sleek instrument glowed as the light from the fluorescent lamp above hugged its frame creating an aura of romance.
The intrigued owner perused its many features. He searched for all the new and special additions sold to him by the salesperson at the store. The apps were real special and would fit the kinds of things Mr. Vanvilt wanted. His eyes glowed with childish excitement as his fingers caressed his new love.
Unbeknownst to Charles Vanvilt he had a rival..Johnny had quietly slipped into the room and sat opposite his father. The youngster had earlier spotted the gleaming instrument miles away from his bedroom door. Apart from food, nothing else titilated the appetite of the junior Vanvilt. He quietiely observed all the mouth watering antics of his father and he also began to salivate.
Johnny cleared his throat to get his father's attention. Charles slowly awoke from his bewitching state. "Hi Daddy," murmured Johnny.
"Oh, hi son," his father responded.
"Nice phone you have there," exclaimed Johnny.
"Yep!" his father replied.
"May I have a look at it when you're finished Daddy?" questioned Johnny.
"We'll see," his father grunted.
Daddy ran his fingers once more on his prized possession and then carefully secured it into the box it came in.
"Ok Johnny, remember you have to go to basketball practice in a short while, why don't you get dressed so I can take you." The young Vanvilt was in no mood for basketball after spotting the shiny instrument. He reluctantly got up from his seat and made his way to his room.Even as his put on his socks and sneakers, thoughts of the electronic equipment took the forefront of his mind.
Sherry Vanvilt was still in the bedroom recovering from her encounter with Charles and Megan at the store.. Charles got dressed, kissed his wife and reminded her that he was taking Johnny to practice. She grumbled an acknowledgement.. Father and son letft the building.
