Located in the Horn of Africa, and squeezed by Eritrea on the North, Ethiopia on the West and Somalia in the Southwest. this African Republic is strategically situated for trade and tourism. In fact Djbouti is viewed as the gateway to the Suez Canal-one of the world's busiest shipping routes.
With a population of just three- quarters of a million comprising of 60 percent Somalians, 35 percent Afar, 5 percent French and a sprinkling of Arabs and Ethiopians.

Residents of this 23,000 square miles Republic speak mainily French and Arabic, though Somali and Afar are also widely spoken tongues.
