QUICK SCAN CAN DETECT DEMENTIA RISK.

People who are at risk of early dememtia can now have a quick a quick five- minute scan to spot any risk of cognitive decline.

This claim is made by an international team of researchers, pioneered by University College London who used ultrasound scanners to look at the blood vessels in the necks of more than 3,000. people and monitored  them over a 15-year period.
The study found that those with the most intense pulses were at greater risk of cognitive decline over the next decade than the other study participants. The scientists hape that this finding would  offer a new way to predict cognitive decline.

Cognitive decline is often one of the first signs of early dememtia, but not everyone who experiences  it will go on to develop the condition. They recommend a healthy diet, doing regular exercise and not smoking as a means of staving off  dementia.
