CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING

British actress Michelle Keegan is advising women to visit their health clinics and have a smear test done. The celebrity said that after having done her research she became more conscious of the prevalence of  cervical cancer. Cancer Research UK disclosed that there are about 3,200 new diagnosis of the disease and 870 deaths every year. In the United States in 2018 there is an expexted 13,240 new cases of invasive cervical cancer . And about 4,170 of these women will die from the disease.                                                                                                        .

In 2009 TV star Jade Goody died at age 27 from cervical cancer. her death brought more awareness of the disease.

Keegan admits that she had been putting off taking a smear test for a long time but points to how quick and easy the procedure is. " I was in a room for five minutes, on the bed for two, it was really quick," the 31 yearl-old remarked ."It was not painful at all, just a little uncomfortable," she added.
In her vlog yesterday Keegan said, "So ladies, I'm urging you to book in your smear, go and get it done and tell all your family and friends to get it done.It is so important and easy."

Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women under the age of 35, with some having no symptoms whatsoever.
75% of cervical cancers can be prevented by having regular smear tests.
