ACTRESS CALLS FOR MENTAL FUNDING CHANGES
British actress Keira Knightley wants funding for mental health to be ring-fenced, with more help provided for children and young mothers.
Addressing an audence at the London Film Fesiival on October 11, Ms. Knightley shared her experience of having a mental breakdown (PTSD) at age 22 and struggled with her rise to fame. At the premiere of her new film Colette, the actress said, "Everybody, no matter who you are are, has a tricky time in your life." The actress added, "There should be help for children with mental health issues, there should be help for young mothers with mental health issues."
Knightley also pointed to the fact that more needs to be done for working mothers, pointing out that she was lucky to be able to have her daughter on set . She says that's not the case with every single woman. Keira also spoke about highlighting inspirational women, as in her role as thr French author Sidonie-Gabarielle, whose husband Willy took credit for for her first four novels
Ms. Knightley was still a teenager in 2002 when she starred in her breakthrough.film Bend it Like Beckham and the later blockbuster, Pirates of the Caribbean.
Research suggests, three-quarters of mental problems are established by age 24.
