Stephanie Kwolek
This astute chemist who worked for DuPont in the 1960s , made a life saving invention.. The development of the Kevlar, a fiber best known for its use in bullet- resistant vests.
Stephanie's research included experimenting with long molecules called polymers. These were used in order to develop lightweight, heat-resistant fibers
Although it took six years to commercially produce Kevlar, the team effort employed was something that Ms. Kwolek appreciated.
