Sarah Breedlove ( Madame C. J . Walker)

Born on December 23, 1867 to enslaved parents, Sarah was inspired to create her hair products after an experience with hair loss.

Her method is known as the "Walker system" , which involves scalp preparation, lotions and iron combs. Her custom pomade was a wild success. She sold her products directly to Black women Wonderful Hair, Grower, Glossine and Vegetable Shampoo were some of her more famous inventions.
The success of her business enabled her to become very wealthy . In fact Madame C.J. Walker became the first Black female millionaire in the U.S. She died in 1919

Sex Drive Killers

Some people do many things well when they are stressed. Feeling sexy isn't one of them. Stress at work, home, or in relationships can happen to anyone . Learning how to handle it in a healthy way really helps. You can do a lot of it yourself or get advice from a doctor or a counselor.

Having problems with your partner are among the top sex-drive killers. For women, feeling close is a major part of desire.. For both sexes, watch for fallout from fights, poor communication, feeling betrayed =, or other trust issues. If it's tricky to get back on tract, reach out to a couple's counselor.
A drink may make you feel open to se. But too much alcohol can numb your sex drive. Being drunk can also be a turn-off for your partner.

If your sexual get-up and-go is gone, maybe you're not getting enough sleep. do you go to bed too late or rise too early? Do you have trouble falling asleep, or a condition such as sleep apnea? Anything that messes with a good night's rest can mess with sex. Work on your sleep habits.
You don't lose your sex drive once you're a parent. However, you do lose some time to be close with kids under your foot. Hire a babysitter or try sex during baby's nap time.

Some drugs can turn down desires. They include some of the following:
*Antidepressants
*Blood pressure medications
* Some birth control pills
*Chemotherapy
*Anti-HIV drugs
*Finasteride.
Feeling sexy is easier if you like how you look. Work on accepting your body as it is today, even if you're working to keep in shape. If your partner has low self esteem, assure them they are sexy.
Men with ED(erectile dysfunction ) often worry about how they will be able to perform sexually, and that worry can drain their desire. As men age their testosterone levels may drop bit. Not all lose the desire for sex as this happens , but some do
.
For many women, sex drive dims around menopause, That's partly about symptoms such as vaginal dryness and pain during sex . But every woman is different, and it's possible to have a great sex life after menopause by tending to your relationship, self esteem, and overall health.

Tips for Thinning Hair
Washing your thinning hair won't necessarily send more of it down the drain. Some shanpoos can even strengthen it. Avoid products with harsh detergents, like sodium lauryl sulfate, which can cause breakage. when you suds up, don't rub shampoo into the hair itself. Instead, gently massage it into your scalp and let it slide down through your locks.

Try a tinted hair spray or a colored powder made specifically to disguise hair loss. These come with an applicator like the kind you use to apply eye shadow.

You may want to save time by using a dry shampoo. The products made with talc or cornstarch, can give thinning locks a boast by soaking up excess oil. Just apply, let sit, then comb through the hair.

Going under cover can serve as a temporary measure when dealing with thinning hair. one way to do so is to choose a wig which gives you the option of choosing a different hairdo every now and then. Also if you're not into wigs you can use a baseball cap with pony tails attached to it. Wearing them would not lead to more hair loss.

If you choose to dye your hair, then choosing a color that is closest to your natural complexion is you best bet. The less contrast between your hair and scal, the better. Avoid bleaching - the dramatic color change requires more chemicals , which can make hair break.

Hair, whether it's thick or thin needs moisture to bounce and shine. If yours needs a boost, try conditioner. This product can make you hair more manageable and protect it from breakage.

Marie Van Brittan Brown

This week we highlight the invention of Marie Van Brittan Brown. Marie was a nurse by profession and was married to Albert Brown, an electronics technician.
In 1966 she, along with her husband invented a video home security system. In that same year they applied for a patent to their invention and it was granted in 1969.
This Queens born native received her education from Harrison College, DeVry University and University of Phoenix.
Ms. Van Brittan Brown died in Queens on February 2, 1999.
