Eritrea is a country in the Horn of Africa region of Eastern Africa. Its capital and largest city is Asmara. This country is bordered by Ethiopia to the south, Sudan to the west and Djibouti to the southeast. The northeastern and eastern parts of Eritrea have an extensive coastline along the Red Sea. Eritrea's 45, 406 square miles includes the Dahlak Archipelago and several of the Hanish islands.
Anthropologists have found evidence of human existence in Eritrea dating more than one million years, and indicates that the area may contain significant records related to human evolution. The Kingdom of Aksum, covering much of modern-day Eritrea and  northern Ethiopia, was established during the first and second century AD. It adopted Christianity around the middle of the fourth century. Beginning in the 12th century, the Ethiopian Zagwe and Solomonid dynasties held sway to a fluctuating extent over the entire plateau and the Red Sea coast.
Eritrea's central highland known as Mared Melash, were the northern frontier of the Ethiopian Kingdoms and were ruled by a governor titled the Bhari Negasi. In the 16th century the Ottomans conquered the Eritrean coastline. Then in 1865 much of the coastal lowlands came under the rule of the Khedivate of Egypt until it was transferred to Italy in 1885. From 1885-1890, Italian troops systematically spread out from Massawa towards the highlands eventually resulting in the formation of  the colony of Italian Eritrea. Italian ended in 1942 when Eritrea was placed under British Military Administration during World War II; following UN General Assembly in 1952, Eritrea would govern itself with a local Eritrean parliament.
Today Eritrea is a multi-ethnic country with nine recognised groups each of which has its own language. This has resulted in the country not having an official language. However the recognised languages are, Tigrinya, Arabic, Tigre, Kunama, Saho, Afar, Bilen Nara, and Beja. The working languages in this country are, Arabic, English, and Tigrinya. Eritrea is the home to diverse religious groups with Christianity and Islam being the dominant faiths.  It is estimated that Christians account for between 47% to 63% of the population and Islam an estimated 37% to 52%.
Though its economy is relatively small, it main exports include over $310 million in Zinc Ore, $263 million in Gold, $192 million in Copper Ore, $14.9 million in wheat and much more. Its current GDP stands at 4.037 USD.
It is worthy to note that Eritrean cyclist, Biniam Girmay created history by being the first African to win  a stage,  and the Green Jersey in the 2024 Tour de France.

Planting Maize ( Corn)

Maize is a tall stout grass that produces cereal grain. It was domesticated by the indigenous people in Southern Mexico about 9,000 years ago from wild teosinte. It has become a staple in many parts of the world with production surpassing that of wheat and rice. Much maize is used for animal feed whether its grain or as the whole plant which can be baled or made into more palatable silage. Sugar-rich varieties called sweet corn are grown for human consumption, while field corn varieties are used for animal feed, for uses such as cornmeal or masa, corn starch, or corn syrup, pressing into corn oil, alcoholic beverages like bourbon whisky and as chemical feedstock including ethanol and other biofuels.
This plant depends on humans for its propogation and if you're going to try your hand at planting some, here are a few tips:
1. Choose the Right Variety
There are different types of corn such as sweet corn, pop corn, and flour corn. Select a variety that suits tour needs.
2. Timing: Plant corn seeds two weeks after the last frost date. The soil temperature should be at least 60°F (16°C) for optimal germination.
3. Soil Preparation: Corn thrives in well-drained fertile soil with a pH of 6.0 to 6.8. Enrich the soil with compost or organic matter.
4. Planting: Sow seeds about 1½ to 2 inches deep and 12 inches apart in rows that are 2½ to 3 feet apart. Plant in blocks rather than in long rows to ensure good pollination.
5. Watering: Corn needs plenty of water especially during the growing season. Aim for 1-2 inches of water week
6. Fertilizing: Corn is a heavy feeder. Use a nitrogen-rich fertilizer when the plants have about ten leaves and again when the silk first appears.
7. Weed Control: Keep the area around your corn plants free from weeds to reduce competition for nutrients and water.
8. Harvesting: Corn is ready to harvest about 20 days after the silks emerge . The kernel should be full and milky when squeezed.

Signs You're Bipolar
Picture
What Is It?
Sometimes called manic depression, bipolar disorder causes extreme shifts in mood. People who have it may spend weeks feeling like they're on top of the world before plunging into deep depression.
The length of each high and low varies greatly from person to person.
Picture
What The Depression Phase Is Like
Without treatment, a person with bipolar disorder may have intense episodes of depression. Symptoms include sadness, anxiety, loss of energy, hopelessness, and trouble concentrating. They may lose interest in activities that they used to enjoy. It's also common to gain or lose weight, sleep too much or too little, and even think about suicide.

Picture
When Someone Is Manic
During this phase people feel super -charged and think they can do anything. Their self-esteem soars out of control and its hard for them to sit still. They talk more, are easily distracted, their thoughts race, and they don't sleep enough. It often leads to reckless behavior, such as spending sprees, cheating, fast driving, and substance abuse. Three or more of these symptoms nearly every day for a week accompanied by a feeling of intense excitement may signal a manic episode.
Picture
Bipolar 1 vs Bipolar II
People with bipolar I disorder have manic phases for at least a week. Many also have separate depression phases, too.
Those with bipolar II, have bouts of major depression, but instead of full manic episodes, thay have low-grade hypomanic swings that are less intense and may last less than a week. They may seem fine, even like "The life of the party," though family and friends notice their mood swings.

Picture
What's A Mixed Episode?
When people with bipolar disorder have depression and mania symptoms at the same time, or very close together, this is called manic or depressive episode with mixed features.
This can lead to unpredictable behavior, such as taking dangerous risks, when feeling hopeless and suicidal, but energized and agitated. Mood episodes involved mixed features may be somewhat more common in women and in people who develop bipolar disorder at a young age.

Picture
What Are The Causes?
Doctor don't know exactly what causes bipolar disorder. Current theories hold that the disorder may result from a combination of genetic and other biological--as well as environmental-- factors. Scientists think that brain circuits involved i the regulation of mood, energy, thinking, and biological rhythm may function abnormally in people with bipolar disorder resulting in the mood and other changes associated with the illness,

Picture
Who Is At Risk?
Men and women both get bipolar disorder. In most cases symptoms usually start with people who are 15--30 years -old. More rarely it can begin in childhood. The condition can sometimes run in families, but not everyone in a family may have it.

Picture
Risky Behavior.
Many people with bipolar disorder have trouble with drugs or alcohol.  They may drink or abuse drugs to ease uncomfortable symptoms of their mood swings.
Substance misuse also may be prone to occur as part of a reckless or pleasure-seeking associated with mania.

Picture
Suicidal Thinking
People with bipolar disorder are 10-20 times more likely to commit suicide than others. Warning signs include talking about suicide, putting their affairs in order, and doing very risky things. If you know someone who may be at risk call one of these hotlines:800 SUICIDE (800-784-2433) and 800-273 Talk (800-273-8255). If the person has a plan to commit suicide call 911 or help them to an emergency immediately.

What Medicines Treat It?
There are several types of prescription drugs for bipolar disorder.  They include mood stabilizers that prevent episodes of ups and downs, as well as antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs.

A man is drinking in a bar when a nun harasses him about drinking. In self -defence the man asks,"Who told you drinking was bad?"
The nun replies,"Mother Superior told me."
To which the man asks, "Have you ever tried it?"
The nun replies, "No I have never taken a drink of hard liquor."
The man says,"Well don't criticize me if you haven't tried it. I tell you what if you try it and don't like it I'll give up drinking for life."
The nun agrees, "Bring it in a teacup. I don't want people to think I'm drinking."
The man goes up to the bartender and says, "Bring me a couple of shots of vodka but bring one of them in a teacup."

The bartender looks at the man and says, "Is that nun in here again?"

In 2013 the principal of Lee Williams High School in Kingman Arizona, spoke to the Los Angeles Times about the multiple of ghost stories surrounding the school. Many people of the town believe that the campus of the school is haunted and have reported seeing specters of women in prairie outfits and men knitted out in their  best previous -century wear, while attending graduation events.

In an incident that started out as mass hysteria, 27 girls collapsed at Yanagawa High School in Japan after seeing a "vengeful spirit" in 2014. It started out with one girl screaming to the top of her lungs that she was paralysed and unable to move. Then more girls started displaying the same behavior, causing other students to rush to the classroom to see what was happening. The craziness carried on for a couple of hours, with people suspecting that the girl became possessed by the spirit of a headless ghost.  The girls were yelling "Kill me", and "Die," and eventually the school doors were closed.

At West High School in Anchorage, Alaska, a lady in white has been seen standing backstage at the auditorium or standing dead still between the seats inside the massive room. She also apparently runs through the corridor at times or hides in the halls of the basement. A student stage manager once saw a girl opening the backstage door of the auditorium during a closed dress rehearsal and ran towards her to tell her off.  Only when she got there she disappeared into thin air.

Short Story
She was married to the love of her life. They met in college. Since that first day in class,  nothing could have separated them. Shortly after graduation, they were married. A year after she was pregnant. And then the next, and the next. Everything happened so rapidly. Three children in three years. The bliss that grew in their relationship was unimaginable. She was happy to stay at home and care for her young ones.
Now 28, and their youngest child is five, she's feeling that tugging at her heart to explore the workplace environment. Her husband who is the same age agrees. They want to move out of their rented apartment. A home would be ideal for the three kids.  She applies at a few organisation. After her interviews she has accepted an offer with a sales firm.
Her job requires her traveling out of state on a few occasions. If she has to overnight, hotel accommodations are provided by the company. On some trips she is accompanied by junior managers, both male and female. But on this assignment it was only she and a male manager.  She vividly recalls that he was one of the people who interviewed her. He always  appear debonair but never seems to flaunt his appearance or position.  He always acts professionally. On this evening, they had completed their tasks and decided to chill in the lounge of the hotel. Though she has been there one year now, she hardly knows him.
She learned that he was also married and had two kids. They exchanged notes on how they manage their young ones. The discussions continued for nearly two hours over sips of wine. In a flash he suddenly appeared quite attractive to her. She toyed with the idea of holding him a little closer. She successfully fought off those feelings. He, at the same time was beginning to feel some warmth for her. He suddenly alerted her that it was getting late and it was time for them to retire to their rooms as they had to travel very early the next day. She snapped out of her dreamy state and agreed with his suggestion. They both hurriedly made their way to their respective rooms, two numbers away. Her pocket book fell as she tried opening her door. He quickly dashed over to her to help retrieve it. She thanked him when he did. Their eyes were strongly fixed on each other. She opened her door to her room and dropped her guard as she felt his strong energy and surrendered to a kiss. They wished each other goodnight and parted ways.  Both were unable to fall asleep easily. The next day, they wished each a good morning and parted separately for home.

This week's song is entitled "Always". This song peaked at Number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Hot Singles chart in 1987.  Time to hold that dear one close and groove to this song. Shut the door and all the the noise outside. Enjoy.
Always
[Verse  1: Wayne Lewis and Barbara Weathers]
Girl you are to me
All that a woman should be
And I dedicate my life
To you, always
The love like yours is rare
It must have been
Sent from up above
And I know you'll stay this way
For always

[ Pre chorus:]
And we both know
That our love will grow
And forever
It will be
You and me, hey

[Chorus:]
Ooh, you're like the sun
Chasing all the rain away
When you come around
You bring brighter days
You're the perfect one
For me and you
Forever will be
And I love you so
For always

[Verse 2:]
Come with me, my sweet
Let's go make a family
And they will bring us joy
For always
Oh, boy
I love you so
I can't find enough ways
To let you know
But you can be sure I'm yours
For always

[Pre chorus;]
And we both know
That our love will grow
And forever it will be
You and me hey, yeah

[Chorus:]
Ooh, you're like the sun
Chasing all the rain away
When you come around
You bring brighter days
You're the perfect one
For me and you
Forever will be
And I will love you so
For always
[Repeat chorus]
