The arts represent a myriad of expressions that many of us exhibit in our life span. For various reasons we might be unable to display some of these expressions mainly publicly because of the cultural arena that surrounds us. And those decisions might be in perfect order.
But as a species with an imagination that is unlimited, we often harbor secret fantasies that we take to our grave. However, we often get a chance to play out some of these when an artist presents a body of work, whether it be a play, a song or some other artistic expression. These artists are often brave and, in some instances, - and rightly so are censored. Others are able to operate at a level that does not tip the scales too much. Millie Jackson is such an artist. Millie's signature was her raunchy style. She tested the boundaries with tunes like, "All the Way Lover," "Young Man, Older Woman;" "Slow Tongue." "Get Out and Get Some" " Pour Some Sugar on Me" and many others. Her performances on stage were the epitome of wild fantasies harbored in our minds. Behind this, was a great voice. A guttural, powerful, and believable delivery for every song that she sang. Millie was unbelievably entertaining.
But then, behind all that bravado, was a big and loving heart. With that she has recorded songs such as ,"My Man, a Sweet Man, "I Still Love You," I'm In Love Again, "Loving Arms," and many more.
It is "Loving Arms," we'll look at. An interesting thing about this recording is that it was done in a studio with an audience track make up to make it appear like a live show. Brilliantly done. Also you'll hear a Millie Jackson's monologue at the beginning. Beautiful keyboard intro.
